As our bank takes important steps to help mobilize stakeholders towards a low-carbon future, we are pleased to share the progress we are making towards enabling a more sustainable and inclusive economy.

As we continue to grow our Energy, Infrastructure, and Transition (EIT) Investment Banking business into a leading global franchise and further our leadership in this space, we are expanding our EIT team, furthering our combined expertise, scale and reach to help our clients achieve their ambitions, while delivering growth across our bank.

Additionally, our bank is focused on fostering the energy transition ecosystem with strategic investments in academia to enable new ideas as well as to develop a new generation of leaders, including:

  1. We recently committed to help fund the Energy Transition Centre in Calgary alongside the University of Calgary and several of our clients.

  2. We are also establishing a Research Chair in Sustainable Finance in partnership with York University’s Schulich School of Business, producing next-generation research and thought leadership in the sustainable finance field.

  3. As part of CIBC’s longstanding history with McGill University, we are proud to become a founding member of the new Sustainable Growth Initiative and the Office of Sustainable Finance.
