Our capabilities across our bank continues to evolve to meet the needs of our Indigenous clients. Notably, our Indigenous Markets team service Indigenous clients on and off-reserve. We have developed an Indigenous Housing Loan Program and offered Indigenous-focused Financial Literacy Program.

Capital Markets Indigenous Partnerships 

Our support for Indigenous communities is  illustrated through our partnerships, including:

  • Our multi-year partnership with Indigenous Institutes Consortium to offer 14 new scholarships per year over the next five years to Indigenous students at Indigenous Institutes.
  • We have contributed more than $8M since 1994 to Indigenous education through Indspire’s academic bursaries and scholarships.
  • We partnered with Connected North to deliver 250 science, technology, engineering and mathematics sessions supporting nearly 5000 interactions to First Nations, Metis and Inuit youth across Canada.

Our Indigenous Education Support includes:

  • Partnerships with schools across Canada (e.g., Mount Allison University, Southern Alberta Institute of Technology) to provide bursaries, scholarships, and programming support.
  • CIBC Scholarships include the CIBC Asset Management CFA Indigenous Scholarship, CIBC Commercial Banking & Wealth Management Inclusion Scholarship, and CIBC Capital Markets Inclusion Scholarship Commitment to shared prosperity.
