Brad Black

Managing Director and Head, Global Distribution and ResearchCIBC Capital Markets

Brad Black is Managing Director and Head of Global Distribution responsible for all client-facing global markets solutions and services for Corporate, Institutional, Government, Mid-Market and Retail clients. In addition, his mandate covers leadership of the Research, Structuring and Quantitative Investment Strategies teams. Based in Toronto, Brad plays a critical role in leading teams to develop industry leading solutions for CIBC’s clients. His role spans office representation in major financial hubs including Toronto, Vancouver, Calgary, Montreal, New York, London, Luxembourg, Hong Kong, Singapore, Sydney, and Tokyo. He is a key member of CIBC’s Capital Markets Executive Committee, as well as CIBC’s Global Leadership team. 

Brad joined CIBC Capital Markets in 2001 in the Investment & Corporate Banking area. In 2006, Brad transitioned to Global Markets, taking on progressively senior leadership roles, including overseeing the Equity Derivatives Sales business and most recently the Financial Solutions Group. In addition, Brad was formerly Co-Chair of CIBC’s Managing Director Selection Committee. 

Brad is deeply committed to promoting Inclusion & Diversity within the organization, actively participating in CIBC’s I&D Advisory Council and serving as Chair of the VersaFi formerly Women in Capital Markets (WCM) Board of Directors. In recognition of his efforts, he was awarded VersaFi’s Champion of Change in 2018 for advancing inclusive leadership. Beyond his professional responsibilities, he is involved in various community initiatives, including the United Way Major Individual Giving (MIG) Cabinet, MLSE Foundation fundraising, and co-founder of Capitalize for Kids Bay Street Games. 

Brad holds an Honors Bachelor of Commerce from McMaster University.
